Light penetrates darkness in Ghana prison

God is at work in the growing prison ministries of Sub-Saharan Africa! Be encouraged by this testimony:

“My name is Kobbi, and I come from the Volta region of Ghana. I knew about prisons in Ghana, but never thought that I would be there one day.

“I was dealing in illicit drugs and was sentenced to serve 20 years with hard labor. I have served 9 years so far. My family has deserted me, and I am confused. What do I do with the rest of my life? These were my thoughts all along, and there was no solution until one day I decided to join the CBS class.

“I used to go to church to hear the Word of God, but I didn’t understand what I learned in prison. What I knew was that God has made all of us, and therefore we shall all go to heaven. But last week, the CBS leader made us aware from John 1:12-13 that it is not all those who go to church who are the children of God but those who believe in Jesus Christ.

“I didn’t understand him at that moment, so after the lesson I asked him to explain it well to me. He took his time and said, ‘We cannot call those people outside prisoners. Why? Because they have not committed any crime. So, you cannot be called a son of God if you have not believed in Jesus Christ.’

“His teachings have shown me that I was in the dark and doings things in darkness, but Jesus who was light, has come to the world to bring light and life to those who will believe in Him. Therefore, we should follow Him, and whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness.

“I have resolved to serve God with the rest of my life. My prayer is that my family too would get to know this truth, so that they can also become children of God. I can now say that I was brought here in the prison for salvation.”
